How Scuba Certification Works

Every major agency (PADI, SSI, NAUI, etc.) follows a simple 3-part path. Here is what you can expect.

Computer Work

Step 1.

Knowledge

You don’t need special skills, just:

  • Basic swimming ability

  • Comfortable floating for 10 minutes

  • Good general health

  • A completed medical questionnaire
(Sometimes a doctor’s signature is required.)

  •

Most students complete the academic section online at their own pace.
You’ll learn:

  • How pressure affects your body

  • How scuba gear works

  • Basic safety rules and dive planning

  • Underwater communication signals

Done at home — start anytime.

    Scuba Training in Swimming Pool

    Step 2.

    Pool Training

This is where you breathe underwater for the first time!
    You’ll practice essential skills like:

    • Clearing water from your mask

    • Regulator recovery

    • Buoyancy control

    • Air sharing

    • Swimming with gear

This step builds your confidence before open water.

      Step 3.

      Open Water Certification Dives

Your instructor will guide you through 4 open-water dives over 1–2 days.
You’ll show the skills you learned in the pool and experience real diving conditions.

      You’re almost there!

Once you complete your dives, you’ll receive your certification card.

      This allows you to:

      • Rent scuba tanks and gear anywhere in the world

      • Join local or travel dive trips

      • Enroll in Advanced, Rescue, and Specialty courses

      • Dive without supervision (with a buddy)

        Additional Information

        Minimum Age:

        10–12+ depending on course

        • Basic comfort in the water

        • Ability to follow instructions

        • Parent/guardian involvement

        • Maturity to handle safety tasks

        Fitness Requirements:

Basic swimming and comfort in the water. You don’t need to be in peak shape to dive — just reasonably healthy, comfortable in the water, and able to swim at a relaxed pace. Most people qualify easily.

        Required Gear:

We provide guidance — new divers don't need to buy everything at once. We have learning equipment and rentals, as well as a fully stocked showroom of the latest scuba gear and equipment.
